Charlotta L. Chung is a partner in the Corporate & Financial Services Department and a member of the firm’s Finance Department. She focuses her practice on representing borrowers, private equity sponsors, and investors in a variety of financings, including complex special situation and liability management transactions. Her practice also includes representing distressed companies and creditors in Chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructurings.

Charlotta is also experienced in representing insurance and reinsurance companies, investment banks, financial institutions and private investment funds in an array of complex insurance transactions, including bilateral security and trust arrangements, longevity and pension risk transfers, and cross-border deals.

Prior to joining Willkie, she was Head of U.S. Legal Research at CreditSights, where she focused on analyzing corporate and capital structures to evaluate credit risk and inform investment strategy, with a focus on high-yield and distressed credits.

She received her B.A. from St. Lawrence University and her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.

Charlotta served as contributing editor for the 2022 and 2023 editions of Acquisition Finance, and co-authored the comprehensive chapters for the United States.
