Willkie represented ShowBiz Direct, an innovative new theatrical motion picture distribution company, in its distribution deal for Reagan, a feature film about the 40th U.S. President starring Dennis Quaid.
The film, slated to hit theaters on August 30, is the debut release from ShowBiz Direct, a studio recently launched by motion picture theatrical exhibition veteran Kevin Mitchell, former Lionsgate distribution president Richie Fay and former co-president of Open Road distribution, Scott Kennedy. ShowBiz Direct is focused on working with the creative community to fill a gap in the current distribution model and bring more films to theaters. The company champions mid-size to tent-pole releases that fall outside the post-pandemic release strategies of major studios.
The Willkie team was led by partner Andrew Kramer along with counsel Aubrey Thomason and partner Steve Hurdle.
