Willkie has been recognized in 2024 edition of The Legal 500 Green Guide as a leader in sustainability and one of the top firms working on the energy transition in the U.S.

The second edition of the U.S. Green Guide showcases the “key firms engaging with sustainability in the U.S. market” and furthering the green transition. It highlighted Willkie’s experience advising cutting-edge renewable energy transactions and innovative decarbonization projects, as well as the firm’s leadership in promoting sustainability and corporate social responsibility.

The publication noted Willkie’s recent success advising Haddington Ventures on the fundraising for the construction of the ACES Delta green hydrogen platform, which is expected to be the largest hydrogen gas production and storage hub in the U.S. It also noted the firm’s role advising Mitsui & Co., Ltd. in its agreement with Sempra Infrastructure, TotalEnergies and Mitsubishi Corporation to develop the Hackberry Carbon Sequestration project in Louisiana, as well as its representation of renewable natural gas project developer Avolta in securing funding for biogas projects at large-scale dairy farms.

The Green Guide further establishes Willkie as an industry leader in a complex and fast-evolving area of business law. The listing also recognizes Environmental, Social & Governance practice Co-Chairs Laura Delanoy and Archie Fallon, who was recently named a Law360 MVP, and counsel William Thomas, head of the Environment, Health & Safety practice, among the top practitioners nationwide.

In addition, the listing reflects Willkie’s demonstrated commitment to sustainability across the firm and its award-winning efforts to be an even smarter and more efficient organization. As a member of the Law Firm Sustainability Network, Willkie continues to reduce its environmental impact, improve performance, help develop industrywide best practices, and advance corporate social responsibility.

The Legal 500 also noted Willkie’s pro bono representation of leading environmental organizations, including ClientEarth, Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment, and the Renewable Energy Alliance Houston, which the firm helped found.
