Archie Fallon, Co-Chair of the Project Finance & Investment Practice Group and the Power & Renewable Energy Practice Group, and Managing Partner of the firm’s Houston office, has been profiled by Law360 as a 2023 Project Finance MVP.

In a Q&A profile, Archie discussed his work leading strategic transactions in the energy, infrastructure and technology sectors, cutting-edge deals that led Law360 to name him one of the year’s top practitioners in the field. He also discussed the passion he has for his work and his advice for up-and-coming attorneys.

The profile highlighted the wide array of projects Archie worked on this past year, including advising Haddington Ventures on its formation of Haddington ESP I LP to finance the construction of a landmark green hydrogen platform, PBF Energy in its joint venture to create a renewable diesel biorefinery, and Mitsui in its strategic alliance to develop an underground carbon capture facility. Archie also discussed his passion for his work, the the evolving market for traditional renewable energy businesses as well as energy transition businesses, and the growing regulatory support for such projects.

"As attorneys, what we find really exciting is helping to advise clients on the kinds of risks that can arise in that process, putting them in a position to take those risks and, hopefully, complete a successful project," he said.

Archie said that he has worked with many of his clients for years, and tries to provide counsel that goes beyond technical legal matters and helps clarify the business issues at play, ultimately enabling clients to achieve their long-term goals through trailblazing transactions.

"I have a really keen interest in working with a client to develop land into some kind of energy-producing or energy-storing facility that improves peoples' lives and generates attractive economic returns for the investors involved," he noted.

As a leader at the firm, Archie also spends time guiding associates on best practices to succeed as a lawyer in the project finance and energy space. He notes the importance for junior attorneys to develop a deep understanding of the industry their clients operate in, and to continually learn not only about the legal issues but also the latest business and commercial dynamics.

Law360 selected Archie as a 2023 MVP from a competitive pool of more than 900 nominations, naming him one of only five honorees in the Project Finance category.
