Willkie partners Beau Stapleton and Shane Nix co-authored an article about copyright termination rights in the Los Angeles County Bar Association's Los Angeles Lawyer magazine.

In “Furnishing Entities, Early-Career Agreements, and the Erosion of Artists’ Termination Rights,” they discuss issues under Section 203 of the Copyright Act of 1976 and examine two cases currently shaping the law. Beau and Shane outline several approaches to structuring artist entities and related agreements to preserve termination rights while maintaining liability protections and tax benefits.

Beau, partner in the Corporate & Financial Services Department and the Entertainment Transactions Practice, advises artists, composers, producers, executives, investment funds, studios, media companies, and directors on many of the entertainment industry's most profitable and impactful deals.

Shane, partner in the Tax Department and the Entertainment Transactions Practice, counsels a wide array of clients including songwriters, recording artists, record labels, actors, producers, directors, athletes, and other celebrities on various business transactions, with an emphasis on transactional tax matters.
