Claire McDaid is a partner in the Corporate & Financial Services Department. She focuses on private equity and corporate M&A transactions and is co-head of Willkie’s European Committee. Claire advises principally private equity sponsors, family offices and strategic investors on a variety of cross-border investment transactions, including leveraged buyouts, complex carve-outs, club deals, growth equity, recapitalisations and liquidity transactions.
Claire has particular experience in the distressed and turnaround sphere, advising a variety of stakeholders in such transactions, including ‘loan to own’ strategies, the protection of existing investments and the reorganisation and recapitalisation of investments.
In addition, Claire is regularly called upon to advise on corporate law matters in the United Kingdom, and has advised a number of U.S. private equity clients on establishing their U.K. advisory operations.
Claire has worked across a broad range of sectors worldwide, including retail, chemicals, telecoms, financial services, renewable energy and technology and has acted for PAI Partners, Genstar, Insight Venture Partners, JC Flowers, Bregal Freshstream, H.I.G. Capital Partners, Davidson Kempner amongst others.
