Willkie represented Franklin Resources, Inc. [NYSE: BEN], a global investment management organization operating as Franklin Templeton, in its agreement to acquire a majority interest in Apera Asset Management, a pan-European private credit firm with over €5 billion in assets under management.

On June 4, Franklin Templeton announced that it entered into a definitive agreement to acquire a majority interest in Apera, a private debt investor that provides senior secured capital solutions to private equity-backed companies in Western Europe. The transaction will expand Franklin Templeton’s global alternatives platform.

Willkie previously advised Franklin Templeton on numerous transactions, including its acquisitions of Putnam Investments, Lexington Partners, Alcentra, and Legg Mason.
