Willkie recently advised Meridiam in the context of the acquisition of a 25.5% shareholding in Gaziantep Hastane Sağlık Hizmetleri İşletme Yatırım A.Ş. and the shareholders (including Rönesans group entities) and borrower in connection with the third stage of the restructuring of the equity and senior financing of the Gaziantep Integrated Health Campus public-private partnership (PPP) project in Turkey.

The Gaziantep Integrated Health Campus PPP project, one of several PPP projects launched by the Republic of Turkey’s Ministry of Health, will be the largest healthcare facility in southeast Turkey, with a capacity of 1875 beds. The deal originally closed in 2018 but the project has faced a combination of cost increases, construction delays and adverse macro-economic changes that were exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The accession of Meridiam Eurasia SAS as shareholder of the project company marks the third stage closing of the successful restructuring of the Gaziantep Integrated Health Campus PPP project led by Rönesans in the context of which Willkie had also advised the sponsors and the project company.

The Willkie team was led by partner Amir Jahanguiri and included partner Gabriel Flandin and associates Shimei Li, Paul Dumas and Jules Soboul.
