On November 12-14, partners Daniel Alvarez, Genevieve Dorment, Spencer Simon, Laura Jehl and Briony Pollard will participate as panelists during the Privacy + Security Forum 2025, hosted by Privacy + Security Academy in Washington, DC.
On November 12 at 2:30 pm (ET), Daniel, Genevieve and Spencer will speak on the panel titled “AI Dealmaking: The Importance of Diligence in M&A Involving AI Companies.” They will explore some of the key issues that companies need to consider when they make investments in companies whose value stems from the development and offering of AI tools and technologies, and discuss how diligence into questions regarding IP ownership, use of data, privacy, and data security can help companies make the most of their AI investments.
On November 14 at 11:30 am (ET), Laura and Briony will speak on the panel titled “The EU Data Act — Privacy Friend or Foe?” They will explain how the EU Data Act, which took effect in September, promotes broad data sharing in the name of innovation and competition, and expands the rights for both businesses and consumers to access, use and share information generated by connected or “smart” devices. They will also discuss The Act’s requirement of cloud service providers to make it easier for customers to change providers and take their data with them, among other topics.
