On January 22-24 in Los Angeles, partners Alan Epstein, Shane Nix and Scott Thompson, and senior counsel Jonathan Lurie, will participate as panelists for the USC Gould School of Law 2024 Tax Institute.

On January 22 from 6:00-7:30 pm (PST), Alan Epstein will serve as a moderator and Shane Nix will serve as a panelist for the session titled “Entertainment Industry Hot Topics.” The panel will discuss the latest tax, legal, and accounting developments affecting studios, independent producers, and talent in the entertainment industry.

On January 23 from 2:00-3:00 pm (PST), Scott Thompson, based in Willkie's San Francisco office, will speak on the panel titled “Equity Compensation for Senior Executives.” The session will be a deep dive into the advantages, disadvantages and strategies for awarding different forms of equity compensation.

On January 23 from 4:25-5:25 pm (PST), Jonathan Lurie will speak on the panel titled “Important Considerations in Setting Up a Successful Family Office.” This presentation will address complex tax planning and offer an overview of the “family office,” including why and when it is appropriate to set one up.
