Immigration
Willkie’s dedication to helping those seeking safety and a new life in the United States always has been a core feature of our pro bono practice. We assist clients who cannot afford legal representation with asylum, U and T Visas, VAWA, Special Immigration Juvenile Status and other forms of immigration relief. Our clients come from countries around the world, including Honduras, Mexico, El Salvador, Jamaica, China, Tibet, and more.
Willkie helps minors obtain Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), a form of immigration relief available to unaccompanied children who have been neglected, abandoned, or abused, through partnerships with Bet Tzedek, Catholic Charities, Kids in Need of Defense, Safe Passage Project, Sanctuary for Families, and others.
In addition to direct representation, Willkie regularly partners with legal service organizations to provide assistance to individuals through limited scope clinics in which Willkie volunteers, among other things, assist with the preparation and filing of applications for asylum, temporary protected status, work authorization, and green cards.
