A team of Willkie attorneys and staff received the Pro Bono Star Award from Human Rights First, a nonprofit, nonpartisan international human rights organization, recognizing the Firm’s outstanding commitment to representing and protecting asylum seekers. The Willkie team was honored for securing asylum for a family of five from Honduras after representing the family in immigration court proceedings for nearly eight years.
The team included partner Shaimaa Hussein, Co-Chair of the M&A Litigation Practice; Ciara Sisco, Senior Pro Bono Attorney; Sarah Geiger, Pro Bono Immigration Attorney; associates Amanda Cort, Ahmad El-Gamal, and Vishal Sharoff; and Yudelka Peralta, Pro Bono Paralegal.
