Ciara Sisco serves as Willkie’s Senior Pro Bono Attorney, where she is responsible for implementing the firm’s award-winning pro bono program. Ciara works with Willkie’s Pro Bono Counsel to encourage attorney engagement in pro bono, staff and supervise active pro bono matters, coordinate pro bono-related training and events, and develop and maintain the firm’s partnerships with legal services organizations.
Ciara also maintains an active pro bono practice, serving as counsel in impactful cases on a wide variety of issues. Ciara represented the parents of children murdered in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in bankruptcy proceedings and related lawsuits against conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. She has worked closely with organizations like Protect Democracy, the ACLU and NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund to bring successful impact litigation cases defending the integrity of U.S. elections, protecting LGBTQ+ rights, and combating racial segregation.
Ciara focuses her practice particularly on protecting children and advocating on behalf of women and veterans. In 2020, Ciara received the Employee Recognition and Volunteer Appreciation Award from the Children’s Law Center for her role successfully litigating an international child abduction case, in which Willkie represented a mother escaping with her children from an extremist religious sect in Guatemala.
Prior to her current role, Ciara was an associate in the litigation and business reorganization and restructuring departments. She also served as Willkie’s Law Fellow at the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. As an associate, Ciara served on the Pro Bono Committee and Women’s Professional Development Committee.
