Willkie has been named Law Firm of the Year for Insolvency and Restructuring at the JUVE Awards 2025, celebrating Willkie’s achievements as a top law firm for restructuring work in Germany and beyond. The awards ceremony took place October 30 at the Alte Oper Frankfurt.
JUVE lauded Willkie for establishing a top restructuring practice in a short amount of time, highlighting the addition of German Restructuring Co-Chairs Jörn Kowalewski and Ulrich Klockenbrink and their team in 2024, who joined forces with Willkie’s Munich-based team that included partner Wolfram Prusko. JUVE also noted Willkie’s work on high-profile restructuring matters, including advising the steering committee of BayWa AG's lenders on the restructuring of BayWa Group, as part of a complex restructuring process. Other recent matters handled by the team include advising Oxford Finance as German legal counsel on the successful refinancing of Centogene group in connection with a significant investment by Charme Capital Partners, and advising DEMIRE Deutsche Mittelstand Real Estate AG, an investor in commercial real estate, on a comprehensive restructuring of its listed 2019/2024 German law bond of originally EUR 600m.
Willkie opened its office in Hamburg earlier in 2025, the firm’s third office in Germany, enhancing a platform that includes leading restructuring, litigation and transactional practices.
The JUVE Awards honor the leading law firms and legal departments in Germany and Austria.
