Alex Weingarten, Managing Partner of Willkie’s Los Angeles Office and Chair of the Entertainment Litigation Practice, has been recognized as a “Distinguished Leader” at the California Legal Awards 2025.
Alex, who launched Willkie’s Los Angeles office in 2021 and has grown it into a market leader with approximately 100 attorneys, was among the “Distinguished Leader” honorees at the awards presented by Law.com and The Recorder.
In a Q&A profile, Alex discussed his recent accomplishments as one of the entertainment industry’s top litigators, the keys to success in the law, and his approach to leadership.
“Hire smart people and get out of their way,” he said. “In all seriousness, my approach to leadership is assembling the best and the brightest and then doing everything I can to help them shine.”
Alex also noted that while the legal industry continues to evolve, certain things remain the same. New technologies can enhance efficiency, but the basic tenets of successful legal practice are unchanged: “[A]t the end of the day…clients come to us to advise them and solve their most difficult problems.”
