

Anna Gotfryd is a senior associate in the Litigation Department in Washington, D.C. Anna represents clients in complex commercial litigation, high-stakes disputes and class actions, and criminal matters and enforcement actions.
Anna is a skilled investigator, litigator, and trial attorney. As a former U.S. Department of Justice prosecutor, she is experienced in serving as lead counsel in all phases of grand and petit jury pretrial and trial litigation, including preparing witnesses for testimony, briefing issues of first impression, and arguing outcome-determinative motions. Anna has first- or second-chaired several federal jury trials with intense media interest. She has successfully delivered opening and rebuttal arguments, led voir dire and jury charge conferences, and conducted direct and cross-examinations in high-profile cases. Most notably, as co-counsel, Anna secured a conviction in the federal prosecution resulting from the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor.
Anna is also fluent in Polish. She commonly handles cross-border disputes and other matters with an international dimension.
Anna previously served as a law clerk to the Honorable Mary Beck Briscoe of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and to the Honorable Charles P. Kocoras of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
