Anna Gotfryd is a seasoned trial and appellate advocate in the Litigation Department and a member of the Crisis Management and the Appeals & Strategic Motions Groups.  Anna represents individuals and corporations facing their most consequential legal challenges—in complex commercial litigation, high-stakes disputes and class actions, and criminal matters and enforcement actions.  Anna has secured favorable outcomes in state and federal courts nationwide.

Anna leverages her courtroom-tested government experience to guide clients through difficult and wide-ranging legal issues.  As a former U.S. Department of Justice prosecutor, Anna managed sensitive, multi-year investigations and served as lead counsel through every phase of grand and petit jury pretrial and trial litigation, including preparing witnesses for testimony, briefing issues of first impression, and arguing outcome-determinative motions.  Anna has prevailed in bench trials and as first- or second-chair in several federal jury trials with intense media interest.  She has effectively delivered opening and rebuttal arguments, led voir dire and jury charge conferences, and conducted direct and cross-examinations in high-profile cases.

Anna also brings a global perspective to her practice.  She is fluent in Polish and commonly handles cross-border disputes and other matters with an international dimension.

Anna previously served as a law clerk to the Honorable Mary Beck Briscoe of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and to the Honorable Charles P. Kocoras of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
