Willkie is advising SIPEF, a Belgian agribusiness group specializing in sustainable tropical agriculture, on its acquisition of Tiabam, which operates a banana plantation in the Tiassalé region of Ivory Coast, from AGRIBAM.
SIPEF recently announced that it signed an agreement to acquire the Tiabam plantation through Plantations J. Eglin, a SIPEF subsidiary. Located adjacent to SIPEF's existing Akoudjé operations, the Tiabam plantation comprises a total landholding of approximately 450 hectares, of which 320 hectares are in production, and employs around 400 people.
The Willkie team is led by counsel Juno Hautekiet and partner Georges Balit and includes associates Hadrien Berlanger and Thibaut De Brouwer.
