Willkie served as counsel to the official committee of unsecured creditors of WOM S.A. and certain of its affiliates in their chapter 11 cases. One of Chile’s largest telecommunications providers, WOM filed for chapter 11 protection in April 2024 to restructure its balance sheet and pursue a value-maximizing transaction. The official committee of unsecured creditors worked closely with the Debtors on the restructuring process and on building consensus for a restructuring plan that deleveraged the company, provided maximum recoveries for unsecured creditors as well as other creditor constituents, and positioned WOM for long-term profitability.

In March 2025, the company successfully exited bankruptcy protection having received confirmation of a restructuring plan that raised $500 million in new capital and eliminated approximately $650 million in debt, and enabled the company to operate post emergence to the benefit of its stakeholders.

The Willkie team representing the official committee of unsecured creditors was led by partner Brett Miller and included partners Todd Goren, James Burbage and Andres Mena.
