On March 30th, Willkie hosted a highly anticipated conference in London, where over 120 clients and prospects gathered at Plaisterers Hall. The focus of the event, which was led by members of Willkie's Compliance, Investigations & Enforcement and Global Trade & Investment practices, along with Forensic Risk Alliance (FRA), was to discuss the impact that the Russia sanctions have had over the past year. The conference attracted a broad range of attendees from many prestigious organizations.

The conference featured industry experts, including speakers from OFAC and OFSI, as well as senior in-house practitioners from global financial institutions and companies. The speakers provided valuable insights into the day-to-day impact of compliance with the new and ever-evolving sanctions that were issued by the UK, US, and others in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

The Willkie speakers included Rita Mitchell and Simon Osborn-King who opened the conference; David Mortlock who led the Fireside Chat with Oleksandr Volkov, Counsel at Asters and advisor to the Government of Ukraine; Britt Mosman who moderated Panel 1: Key Developments in Sanctions Regulation and Enforcement, and Peter Burrell who moderated Panel 2: Lessons Learned, where in-house representatives discussed their biggest lessons learned over the past year and their key takeaways for the year ahead.

The conference was followed by a drinks networking reception and a private dinner.
