Alex M. Weingarten, Managing Partner of Willkie’s Los Angeles Office and Chair of the Firm’s Entertainment Litigation Practice, has been named to the “Top 100 Lawyers 2022” by the Los Angeles Business Journal.

Alex was recognized among the 100 most notable attorneys in the Los Angeles region who stand out for their “legal achievements, community involvement and impacts on the profession.”

The accolade further establishes Alex as one of the entertainment industry’s foremost trial attorneys and as a leader in the broader business community. His recent highlights include representing Jamie Spears in the high-profile dispute with his daughter Britney Spears over her conservatorship. Alex is also representing the daughters of late music icon Tom Petty in family dispute over the administration rights of Petty’s music catalogue, and is leading a lawsuit on behalf of Selena Gomez against the developers of a mobile app Clothes Forever for the unauthorized use of the Grammy Award-winning entertainer’s name and likeness, among other prominent matters.

The award also recognized Alex’s impact as a civic leader and champion of social justice. He is a member of the Board and Executive Committee for the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles, and former Chair of its Community Engagement Division and its Legal Division. He has been instrumental in strengthening ties among the many diverse communities of the Greater Los Angeles area and in launching several Jewish Federation initiatives, including programs to provide pro bono services for children separated from their parents at the U.S. border and a leadership training program aimed at promoting diverse participation in civic boards and commissions.

Alex was recognized among the honorees of the inaugural “Top 100 Lawyers” list at an awards ceremony on May 12 in Los Angeles.
