Paris office represents shipping group CMA CGM in deal to acquire Mercosul Line. from Maersk Line.

On June 13, it was announced that Willkie client CMA CGM agreed to acquire Mercosul Line, one of the leading players in Brazil’s domestic container shipping market, from Maersk Line. The integration of Mercosul within CMA CGM is expected in Q4 2017.

Mercosul, with 92 land-based staff and 160 seafarers, has a fleet of four ships operating in Brazil and other parts of South America. CMA CGM is a leading worldwide shipping group with 445 vessels operating at more than 420 ports around the globe. Willkie represented CMA CGM in its 2015 acquisition of Neptune Orient Lines and in its acquisition of a strategic stake in LCL Logistix.

The current transaction was handled by partner Daniel Hurstel, national partners Gabriel Flandin and Adrien Giraud and associate Gil Kiener.
