St. John's sells its 170-acre Long Island property to Amity University, a nonprofit international educational organization.

Willkie recently represented client St. John's University in connection with the sale of its 170-acre Oakdale property to Amity University, a nonprofit international educational organization, and the leaseback of a portion of the campus so that St. John’s University can continue to offer its existing academic programs without interruption through June 2017.

Founded by the Vincentian Fathers in 1870 as a one-building commuter school in Brooklyn, St. John's is a Catholic university with a diverse population of students who come from 48 states and 114 countries.  The university offers more than 100 associate, bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees in the arts, business, education, law, pharmacy and the natural and applied sciences.

The deal was handled by partner Thomas Henry and associates Jennifer Schanes, Elizabeth Case and Steven Grant.
