United Maritime Group, agrees to sell U.S. United Ocean Services, LLC to an affiliate of International Shipholding Corporation.

On October 9, Willkie client United Maritime Group, LLC entered into a definitive agreement to sell its wholly owned subsidiary U.S. United Ocean Services, LLC to Coastal Carriers, Inc., an affiliate of International Shipholding Corporation. Based in Tampa, FL, U.S. United Ocean Services, LLC operates the largest U.S. Flag Jones Act dry bulk fleet today (131,000 dead weight tons), which consists of two handysize bulkers and four tug/barge units. International Shipholding Corporation, through its subsidiaries, operates a diversified fleet of U.S. and international flag vessels that provide worldwide and domestic maritime transportation services to commercial and governmental customers.

In recent months, Willkie represented UMG in its sale of U.S. United Barge Line, LLC to Ingram Barge Company and its sale of U.S. United Bulk Terminal to an affiliate of Oiltanking Holding Americas, Inc. The current deal was handled by partners Russell Leaf, William Dye and Henry Cohn; special counsel David Park and Jonathan Konoff; and associates Delano Ladd, Sean Ewen, Hania Masud, Tyler Ladner and Jordan Messinger.
