Willkie was recognized as the top-rated firm for client service by Legal Business based on feedback in 2026 from the world’s 20 biggest technology companies.
Legal Business named Willkie the best firm for overall client service to elite tech clients after analyzing responses from general counsel gathered during the Legal 500 directory research cycle. It noted that Willkie excelled in fulfilling the client service criteria that tech leaders prioritized: commercial judgment and strategic thinking as well as trusted advice and efficiency.
Matthew D. Berger, Chair of Willkie’s IP, Technology & Commercial Transactions Practice, told Legal 500 that exceptional outside counsel added value by complementing their clients’ formidable in-house capabilities, including by providing decisive technical and business acumen.
“A lot of the clients we’re representing have extraordinary legal departments; not just in terms of size, but also in terms of expertise,” Matthew said. “We’re being asked to come in and help by adding depth and breadth in certain areas – we’re giving them additional input into critical decisions. We’re asked not only to really know the technology, but also to really know the business.”
