The Recorder, ALM’s California-focused publication, profiled Willkie on its move to a new state-of-the-art space in Los Angeles that is tailored to the office’s leading practice groups, including corporate and private equity, litigation, and private wealth.

Alex Weingarten, Managing Partner of the Los Angeles Office, discussed the growth of the office and its move into a newly renovated 85,000 square-foot space on three floors in the Century Plaza Towers. Launched in 2021, Willkie’s Los Angeles office has grown into a market leader with approximately 115 attorneys – and has plans for continued expansion.

“We have been growing across many practice areas in L.A. with a focus on quality over quantity and our plan is for that to continue,” Alex told The Recorder. “We are not growing to a particular number, but our focus is on organic and opportunistic growth and client demand.”

The profile noted the natural light and egalitarian spirit of the new space, the way the uniform offices and clear layout reflect Willkie’s culture of openness and collegiality.

In addition to highlighting the living walls and other naturalistic touches, the profile noted how the corporate, litigation and private wealth practices that are driving the office’s growth now have workspaces to match their personalities: a wine lounge aesthetic, a water vapor fireplace and vintage arcade games, and the comforting feel of a home den.

"The overall theme is we take the work that we do extraordinarily seriously, but we don't take ourselves seriously," Alex told The Recorder.
