Willkie partner Robert Lepore has been named one of Daily Journal’s Top Antitrust Lawyers of 2025 for his leadership and achievements in high-profile merger reviews.
Robert was recognized among the foremost antitrust lawyers in California and noted for successfully obtaining approval from the Federal Trade Commission for Interpublic Group’s acquisition by Omnicom. He was a key member of the Willkie team that navigated antitrust issues for the landmark merger, including extensive merger review filings in the U.S. and internationally.
Daily Journal also highlighted Robert’s experience as a federal enforcer at the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice, where he oversaw more than 40 investigations and four trials across an array of industries. As Section Chief of the Transportation, Energy and Agriculture Section, he secured government wins in multibillion-dollar merger challenges, including the Justice Department’s lawsuit to block the proposed merger of JetBlue and Spirit Airlines.
As one of the leading-edge antitrust practitioners, Robert is closely attuned to emerging enforcement trends at the state and federal level as well as business dynamics. He underscored the need for effective antitrust counsel to navigate regulatory issues in an evolving area of law.
“Practical and up-to-date antitrust counseling is essential for every company in today’s economy as enforcers have strived to push the law to meet new challenges like information sharing and the use of pricing algorithms,” Robert told Daily Journal.
