Willkie partners Soumya Dayananda and Timothy Heaphy have been named among the recipients of the “Law360 Distinguished Legal Writing Awards,” as part of the 2024 Burton Awards recognizing excellence in the law.
Soumya and Tim were honored for authoring one of the year’s notable pieces from the nation’s leading law firms and demonstrating the “highest standard of excellence in legal writing.” Their article, “Inside the January 6th Committee,” a cover article for Los Angeles Lawyer magazine, details their work for the U.S. House of Representatives Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol. The article discusses the committee’s foundational legal principles and procedures, as well as its findings and recommendations.
Soumya Dayananda, a member of Willkie’s Investigations & Enforcement Practice, previously served as Senior Investigative Counsel to the Select Committee, and Tim Heaphy, Co-Chair of the Investigations & Enforcement Practice, acted as the Chief Investigative Counsel.
The winners of the 2024 Burton Awards will be honored at an event at the Library of Congress on May 20.
