The two Willkie partners were profiled in Daily Journal’s annual supplement honoring the best attorneys nationwide in the realm of complex commercial and “bet-the-company” litigation.

Ben Hur was recognized for excelling in high-stakes privacy and class action litigation and building a leading-edge practice serving some of the world’s most innovative companies. Daily Journal highlighted his successful representation of a large California-based technology company in a series of data collection class actions, including one that clarified the scope of key video privacy statutes.

The profile also noted that Ben’s work at the intersection of privacy law and advanced technology places him on the industry’s cutting edge, and highlighted “his capacity to address legal issues at the forefront of public and political discourse.”

Daily Journal also recognized Ben’s impact as a leader in the legal community, including his work with Californian Asian Pacific American Bar Association, and other industry groups, to promote diversity in the law and foster the careers of future leaders.

Alex Weingarten is a leading commercial trial lawyer who represents clients in all facets of entertainment, probate and business litigation. The Daily Journal award further establishes Alex at the forefront of the field. The publication highlighted Alex’s record of success in high-profile disputes, including a recent victory on behalf of Selena Gomez in a groundbreaking and potentially far-reaching lawsuit against a video game developer that made unauthorized use of her name and likeness.

Daily Journal also noted Alex’s role in launching Willkie’s Los Angeles office in 2021 and growing the team to approximately 90 lawyers, including through a series of notable lateral hires.

In addition, the profile highlighted Alex’s civic leadership and commitment to pro bono service, including his work as a member of the board and executive committee for the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles.
