Willkie has been shortlisted for “Restructuring Team of the Year” at the 2023 Legal Business Awards in recognition of its market-leading work in the UK.
The shortlisting recognizes the achievements of Willkie’s Business Reorganization & Restructuring team in London and highlights the cross-border capabilities of Willkie’s restructuring practice. The London team’s recent accomplishments include leading the groundbreaking restructuring of the Lifeways Group, the largest provider of supported living services for adults with complex health needs in the UK.
The case represented the first ever successful restructuring of a UK regulated healthcare business under Part 26A of the Companies Act 2006. It created a blueprint for other healthcare providers to stabilize their business through a restructuring while avoiding a formal insolvency process. The restructuring also clarified important issues regarding voting and classes that will assist in the future use of Part 26A plans for debtors and advisers alike.
