Litigation partner Todd Cosenza has been honored for his achievements in the area of Securities Law.

Willkie partner and Securities Litigation Practice Group Co-Chair Todd Cosenza has been profiled by Law360 as a 2021 MVP for excellence in the area of Securities Law.

Among his numerous achievements over the past year, the profile highlights his ongoing role representing the 29 underwriters of Uber Technologies Inc.'s 2019 IPO in a state court securities suit, in which he secured a landmark ruling for his clients. That decision is the first to apply an exclusive federal form provision in a company’s charter to non-signatories, such as the underwriters. In May, Mr. Cosenza also secured the dismissal of a putative securities class action brought against Morgan Stanley and other underwriters in the Supreme Court of the State of New York filed in connection with Casper Sleep Inc.’s IPO,

Securities law, particularly that surrounding IPOs, is always changing and requires “a ton of scholarship and a willingness to read a lot of cases and keep up with trends,” Mr. Cosenza told Law360. He added: “You really have to be constantly engaged. You just can't go by what happened in court last time — every case is very different, and the actual body of case law continues to change over time, so you really have to stay up to speed on current developments.”

Mr. Cosenza also noted that his year of big victories couldn't have happened without the strong bench of Willkie senior associates and junior partners he has worked with, in addition to the firm's culture of collaboration and collegiality.

“No MVP stands alone,” he said. “We have a great team here.”

Mr. Cosenza was selected from among more than 900 applicants across multiple practice areas and jurisdictions, both in the US and internationally.

The annual Law360 MVP awards honor lawyers who have distinguished themselves from their peers by securing hard-earned successes in high-stakes litigation, complex global matters and record-breaking deals.
