Litigation partners Brienne Letourneau and Michael Babbitt were named to Crain’s Chicago Business’s 2021 list of Rising Stars in Law. The attorneys named to this list are making an impact in all corners of their profession and have been partners at their firms for five years or less and are active in their firm’s governance and pro bono initiatives.
Brienne is a litigator and trial lawyer who represents businesses and institutions in their most complex and high-stakes matters. Her significant litigation experience extends to a variety of substantive areas, including fiduciary litigation, asset management disputes, ERISA litigation, director and officer liability, consumer class actions, contract disputes, and business torts. She maintains a pro bono practice representing clients in civil actions and counseling non-profit organizations, such as the National Women’s Law Center and Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund. Brienne is a leader of the Firm’s Chicago Parents Group and member of its Women’s Professional Development Committee. She also co-chaired the Firm’s inaugural summer program in Chicago, guiding 13 summer associates along with numerous associates that she formally mentors.
Michael focuses his practice on complex civil litigation and counseling involving patents and technology. He is the pro bono coordinator for the Chicago office and is strongly committed to the firm’s nationally recognized pro bono practice. Michael won a verdict of not guilty as lead trial attorney for a client falsely accused of attempted murder in Chicago. He also has argued a direct criminal appeal before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals and has represented clients in multiple federal civil rights and prisoner rights matters. His experience includes handling scores of federal litigations and more than 40 PTAB proceedings for petitioners and patent owners.
