On May 24, Willkie partner Michael Schachter was presented with the White Collar Crime & Government Investigations award at The Chambers USA Awards 2018 ceremony, the highest honor given to an individual attorney for white collar criminal defense work. The award reflected notable achievements over the past 12 months including “outstanding work, impressive strategic growth and excellence in client service,” according to Chambers.

The White Collar Crime & Government Investigations award recognizes Schachter’s exceptional work in the field, including his role in the firm’s victory this past July when a Second Circuit panel found that federal prosecutors relied improperly on testimony compelled by UK authorities in U.S. v. Anthony Allen. Partners in Willkie's New York and London offices worked together to exonerate Rabobank's Anthony Allen from Libor manipulation charges in a cornerstone case before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit on behalf of the first defendant charged with LIBOR manipulation in the United States. “In winning dismissal of all charges against his clients, Schachter also won the widespread admiration of his peers in the market,” notes Chambers.
