Dr. Maria Risse

Maria is an associate in the Corporate & Financial Services and Asset Management departments, advising clients on a wide range of regulatory, transactional, and compliance matters in the financial sector. Her practice focuses on financial services regulation, asset management, and M&A transactions involving banks, insurers, and other regulated entities.

She provides counsel on banking and insurance regulatory frameworks at both the German and European levels, including licensing, governance, outsourcing, and supervisory issues. In asset management, she advises fund managers and investment firms on the structuring, launch, and operation of investment funds such as UCITS and AIFs. She also supports institutional investors, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals on investment management and regulatory matters.

Maria represents clients in proceedings before German and European regulatory authorities, including BaFin and the ECB, and provides strategic guidance on managing regulatory interactions and compliance risks.

In addition, Maria has developed experience in AI regulation, advising financial institutions and technology-driven businesses on compliance with emerging legal frameworks such as the EU AI Act.
