David J. Posner is a partner and Co-Chair of the Private Clients Group. David focuses his practice on counseling high-net-worth individuals and their families in the areas of estate planning and estate and trust administration. He has extensive experience in the development and execution of sophisticated estate plans and wealth preservation techniques, including the preparation of complex wills, trusts and related instruments. David regularly advises clients on estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax matters. He also has experience relating to charitable giving, including the use of charitable trusts and private foundations.
David is recognized as Up and Coming in the 2019 edition of Chambers High Net Worth, which highlights that he is described as “no doubt an up-and-coming star” who is “very analytical and knows how to look at a situation and cut through to the key issues.” David is also recognized in the area of Trusts and Estates by The Best Lawyers in America.
David has counseled numerous clients in connection with estate planning for closely-held business interests, commercial and residential real estate holdings and private equity and hedge fund interests.
David has lectured on estate and gift tax topics and is a member of the Committee on Trusts, Estates & Surrogates Courts and a past member of the Committee on Estate and Gift Taxation of the New York City Bar Association. He is also a member of the Committee on Estate Planning of the Trusts and Estates Law Section of the New York State Bar Association and a member of the Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section of the American Bar Association.
