Susan R. Cohen is counsel in the Tax Department. Susan provides tax advice on various types of transactions, including investment fund formation and operation, real estate acquisitions and joint ventures, financing arrangements, and acquisitions and reorganizations. She provides for the general tax needs of businesses, tax-exempt organizations, individuals and other entities under applicable tax law. Her experience also includes REMIC and non-REMIC securitizations.

In the investment fund space, Susan has advised both fund sponsors and distributors, working with them to devise tax-efficient fund structures (including structures involving REITs and other “blocker” vehicles), taking into account the needs of tax-exempt, non-U.S. and sovereign investors. Her investment fund work has also included funds of funds, hedge funds and “regulated investment companies” (“RICs”).
