Cristina Caggiano is an associate in Willkie’s Litigation, Investigations & Enforcement, and White Collar Defence Practice Groups in London. She assists leading financial institutions and other corporates in high profile enforcement actions and cross-border internal investigations, as well as in complex civil proceedings. She has extensive experience in managing cases where there is an overlap of criminal, regulatory, and civil aspects. Her practice also includes conducting pre-acquisition due diligence, and providing compliance counseling in respect of anti-bribery and corruption, anti-money laundering, failure to prevent fraud, prevention of facilitation of tax evasion, and financial and trade sanctions.

She was described as a “standout” solicitor by a client in The Legal 500 UK (2022) for Regulatory Investigations and Corporate Crime (advice to corporates), and was recognised as a key lawyer in the same 2022 directory for Fraud: Civil.

Experience

Before moving to London, Cristina worked at the firm’s office in Rome.

Cristina’s experience includes:

  • Representing Man Group in claims brought before the High Court by the Kuwaiti Public Institution for Social Security (PIFSS) in relation to the alleged payment of secret commissions. The case, which concerns claims of more than $800 million against approximately 30 defendants, was named as one of The Lawyer’s Top 20 cases of 2025.
  • Successfully defending criminal charges brought by the Serious Fraud Office against a leading financial institution (recognised as “The Most Important Court Case of the Year” at Global Investigations Review’s 2020 Awards).
  • Acting for a global financial institution in enforcement proceedings brought against it by the Financial Conduct Authority.
  • Advising a financial services company in relation to a claim before the High Court involving allegations of fraud and corruption.
  • Assisting a number of corporates in investigations and enforcements by the SFO, the FCA, and other law enforcement and regulatory agencies.
