Willkie advised Marco Capital Holdings Limited (“Marco”), a leading European P&C insurance run-off group, on the acquisition of Benteler Reinsurance Company DAC (“Benteler Re”).
Benteler Re, an Irish captive reinsurance company, is wholly owned by the Benteler Group which was founded in 1876 and is a global tier 1 supplier of systems, products and services to the automotive, industrial, and energy markets, with around 90 locations worldwide.
The acquisition will enable the Benteler Group to rationalise its group insurance arrangements. A key feature of Marco's business is acquiring entities that are no longer seen as core to the seller's business and this transaction serves as a good example of the value-add retrospective solutions they offer our clients.
The transaction is subject to regulatory approval.
