On June 4, The U.S. House Committee on Agriculture held a hearing on digital asset market structure legislation titled, “American Innovation and the Future of Digital Assets: From Blueprint to a Functional Framework.”
Chelsea Pizzola, partner in Willkie’s Asset Management Department and Digital Works practice, testified on the importance of clear legal guidelines surrounding digital asset transactions. Chelsea discussed the need for a well-defined regulatory framework for digital asset activities and clear allocation of jurisdiction between the CFTC and the SEC, which would provide market confidence to participants.
Prior to joining Willkie, Chelsea was Associate General Counsel at principal trading firm DRW, working with its digital asset trading business, Cumberland. Earlier in her career, Chelsea served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Counsel to Chairman Heath Tarbert at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, where she provided legal and policy advice on Commission rulemakings, enforcement actions, and registration orders and other Commission and staff actions.
