New York, NY (February 22, 2022) --- Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP today announced the addition of Nanyi Kaluma, who has joined as a national partner in the Firm’s Litigation Department and as a member of the White Collar Defense and Compliance, Investigations & Enforcement Groups. She is based in Willkie’s Brussels office. Nanyi was previously counsel at Allen & Overy LLP. Earlier in her career, she was an associate at Willkie, based in the Firm’s Brussels and New York offices.

Nanyi’s practice is focused on advising corporate clients, financial institutions and investment banks in relation to a wide range of criminal, regulatory and commercial disputes. She has extensive experience representing clients in cross-border bribery and money laundering investigations across various geographies and industries, including energy, infrastructure, pharmaceutical and financial services. She provides counsel on compliance matters, whether on or off-deal, as well as sanctions and export controls. Nanyi also regularly represents clients in all types of commercial disputes before arbitral and judicial courts.

“Nanyi is a well-regarded practitioner with a strong track record of handling cross-border disputes – whether criminal, regulatory or commercial – across numerous industries and geographies,” said Peter Burrell, partner and head of Willkie’s Litigation, Compliance, Investigations & Enforcement and White Collar Defense Practice Groups in London.

Daniel Hurstel, senior counsel and member of the Firm’s Executive Committee, added: “Her addition will deepen our cross-border litigation capabilities and complement the work of our growing team in Brussels and globally. We are pleased to welcome her back to Willkie.”

Nanyi commented: “Willkie’s cross-border work in litigation, compliance and investigations are highly regarded across many markets and are a natural fit for my practice. I am excited to rejoin Willkie as a part of the firm’s growing Brussels team and contribute to its success.”

Nanyi’s arrival follows the addition of antitrust lawyer Dr. Jens-Olrik Murach, who joined Willkie’s Brussels and Frankfurt offices in 2021.

Willkie’s Brussels office represents Belgian and international clients in an array of corporate and commercial transactions. Our lawyers are experienced in handling important public and private business transactions in Belgium and abroad. We also have a prominent litigation practice, regularly appearing before judicial and arbitration courts. Additionally, the Brussels office has a strong focus on EU competition law. We work in close cooperation with our other offices to provide clients with comprehensive services for international merger filings and assist corporations in administrative and judicial cartel proceedings. We are also regularly involved in state aid and trade matters.
