New York, NY (January 3, 2022) --- Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP today announced the addition of David S. Hong, who has joined as a partner in the Firm's Asset Management Department. He is based in Willkie’s Los Angeles office. He was previously a partner at Munger, Tolles & Olson.
“We are delighted to welcome David to our private funds practice,” said Margery Neale, chair of Willkie's global Asset Management Department. “David is a talented investment management lawyer with versatile skills, and he will be a tremendous asset to our growing client base, especially on the West Coast.”
David focuses his practice on the formation and operation of private funds across the spectrum of asset classes, including private equity, credit, real estate, venture capital, growth equity, hedge and hybrid funds. He represents emerging and institutional private fund sponsors in fund formations, fund investment matters, seed capital arrangements, complex restructurings, structuring of investment management businesses and regulatory, compliance and operational issues. In addition, he represents institutional investors in connection with their investments in, and co-investments alongside, various private funds.
“Since opening our Los Angeles office in September, we have grown to approximately 50 lawyers who are focused on several core practice areas including corporate and M&A transactions, private wealth, estates and trusts, litigation, and tax,” said Los Angeles-based partner Alan Epstein, who co-led the launch of the office. “As we continue to expand the capabilities we offer to clients, we are thrilled to welcome David, a talented practitioner and our first resident asset management partner, to our growing team.”
David commented: “Willkie’s world-class asset management practice and growing platform in Los Angeles presents a terrific opportunity to expand my practice. I look forward to working with the talented team at Willkie to further enhance our capabilities and services to clients.”
David’s arrival follows the Firm’s opening of its Los Angeles office in September 2021, which now includes approximately 50 attorneys in the areas of corporate and M&A transactions, private wealth, estates and trusts, litigation, and tax.
