Willkie represented Lagardére SA subsidiary Hachette Book Group in its definitive agreement to acquire Workman Publishing.

On August 16, Hachette Book Group entered into a definitive agreement to acquire independent US publisher, Workman Publishing for $240 million.

Hachette Book Group is a leading US trade publisher and a division of the third largest trade and educational book publisher in the world, Hachette Livre. HBG includes seven publishing groups: Little, Brown and Company, Grand Central Publishing, Perseus Books, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, Hachette Nashville, Orbit, and Hachette Audio.

Founded by Peter Workman in 1968, Workman Publishing is one of the largest independent publishers in the United States, known for titles such as “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” and educational games and workbooks like “Brain Quest”.

The Willkie deal team was led by partners Thomas Cerabino, Adam Turteltaub and Jonathan Kubek, and included associate Brittany Perskin.
