Willkie’s ranking in The American Lawyer’s annual Pro Bono Scorecard jumped 27% from last year, to take the 44th place. This recognition reflects Willkie’s ever-expanding efforts in supporting our many pro bono projects in connection with transgender rights, COVID, voting and racial justice.

In 2020, more than 65% of Willkie’s U.S. attorneys billed over 20 hours to pro bono, with an average of 62 hours per lawyer.

In an article that accompanied the report, Willkie was commended for assisting small businesses seeking to understand and access stimulus packages, addressing COVID-related issues regarding tax, real estate, contracts and employment law, and for helping health care workers and low-income families who lost loved ones prepare life-planning documents.

The list ranks Am Law 200 firms with a pro bono score for work performed by U.S.-based lawyers. This score is calculated based on the average number of pro bono hours per lawyer and the percentage of lawyers who performed more than 20 hours of pro bono work in 2020.
