Willkie has once again participated in Legal Aid’s annual Associates’ Campaign, one of the largest fundraising efforts undertaken by The Legal Aid Society. Every year, this initiative accounts for nearly one-third of all individual contributions made in support of Legal Aid’s work.

In 2021, more than $350,000 was raised by a multitude of firms throughout the months of June and July. Willkie raised over $45,000 and is proud to have been among the top three firms participating in Total Overall Raised and Total Raised (200+ associates).

We are proud of our strong and longstanding relationship with The Legal Aid Society. For many years, Willkie has supported Legal Aid’s work both financially and by providing pro bono legal assistance. Additionally, Willkie Chairman Tom Cerabino is a Member of the Board of Directors of The Legal Aid Society and a member of its Executive Committee.

Despite the challenges of the past year, The Legal Aid Society has continued to stand with impacted communities to push for reforms that not only address the hardships present in the recovery from the impact of the COVID pandemic, but also those injustices inherent in social systems that prevent New Yorkers from finding security and stability in their lives.

The funds raised enable Legal Aid staff and attorneys to secure vital protections for New Yorkers across the city – especially members of Black and Brown communities – including tenants facing eviction and workers who lost their only source of income due to COVID-19. The support raised also allows Legal Aid to advocate on behalf of students who were struggling with remote learning and immigrant families facing a variety of new challenges caused by the pandemic.
