Elizabeth Gray, partner and co-chair of the Securities Enforcement Practice Group at Willkie, has been named to Securities Docket’s “Enforcement 40” for 2020, recognizing the “the best and brightest securities defense lawyers” in the industry. According to the publication, the list honors professionals “who not only have the right stuff to handle bet-the-company matters, but are also the kind of defensive specialists critical to have on speed-dial should the SEC’s Division of Enforcement come calling.” The lawyers in the Enforcement 40 for 2020 are from many of the top law firms in the world and have been key players in some of the most significant SEC enforcement matters over the past few decades.
The 40 honorees were announced at the Securities Enforcement Forum 2020 on October 28, which was held virtually. At the event, Ms. Gray moderated the panel, "Cybersecurity and Cryptocurrency Regulation, Enforcement and Litigation.”
A well-known practitioner in the securities enforcement space, Ms. Gray previously worked for 12 years at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, both in the Division of Enforcement and the Office of Tender Offers in the Division of Corporation Finance, as well as counselor to Chairman Arthur Levitt. She also served as Chair of the SEC's Microcap Working Group, and ultimately served as Assistant Director in the Division of Enforcement, where she supervised the investigation, prosecution and settlement of a broad array of securities law cases. She is a frequent lecturer at conferences on securities regulation, enforcement, and cybersecurity, including at the annual Securities Enforcement Forum conference, and a prolific author.
