Willkie’s Pro Bono Committee recently hosted a private, at-home movie screening of The Fight for Willkie colleagues. At this defining moment in history, The Fight follows a scrappy team of heroic ACLU lawyers in an electrifying battle over abortion rights, immigrant rights, LGBTQ rights and voting rights. Following the screening, attendees were invited to view a short, pre-recorded Q&A with producer Kerry Washington and the ACLU lawyers featured in the film.
The Fight had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2020, where it won the U.S. Documentary Special Jury Award for Social Impact Filmmaking. The opportunity to host the screening came to Willkie through our clients Dr. Peggy Drexler, Producer, and Drexler Films.
Willkie has worked with the ACLU extensively over the years and is currently working with the ACLU in connection with several federal lawsuits supporting their fight for justice in the areas of voting rights, transgender healthcare, prisoners’ rights and reproductive rights.
