Business Reorganization & Restructuring partner Ana Alfonso has been appointed to serve as Chair of the New York City Bar Association’s Bankruptcy and Corporate Reorganization Committee, effective September 1, 2020.
The Committee focuses on issues relevant to corporate and individual bankruptcies and corporate out-of-court restructurings. The Committee serves several roles important to the practice of law in its areas of focus, including facilitating and developing conversations on important and sometimes contentious issues in the restructuring arena through committee discussions and public panel discussions, preparing comment letters on proposed legislation and rule-making, and advising and assisting bankruptcy courts on matters of significance to them.
In appointing Ms. Alfonso, the Association highlighted that its “reputation is highly dependent on the significant level of activity of its committees and the excellence of their work. For this reason, committee chairs are chosen with extraordinary care, as it is the chairs who are chiefly responsible for our committees’ success.”
