New York, NY (November 12, 2018) --- Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP today announced that Randall W. Jackson, a nationally recognized trial attorney, has joined the firm in the New York office as a partner in the Litigation Department and the White-Collar Defense and Compliance, Investigations & Enforcement Groups. Mr. Jackson was most recently a partner at Boies Schiller Flexner LLP.

A former Assistant US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Mr. Jackson has worked on some of the most high-profile and complicated recent federal cases, including the prosecutions of Bernard Madoff’s five key aides (the so-called “Madoff Five”), the Pakistani Taliban operative known as the “Times Square bomber,” and former New York City Councilman Larry Seabrook.

“Randall’s growing reputation as one of the country’s most formidable trial lawyers adds even more firepower to Willkie’s market-leading capabilities in investigations, litigation and white collar defense,” said Michael Schachter, partner and Co-Chair of Willkie’s White-Collar Defense Practice Group. “He joins a stellar team of litigators in the US, UK and Continental Europe, including former federal prosecutors and government officials from the DOJ and SEC, with firsthand understanding of the intricacies of complex investigations and multi-layered, high-stakes litigation across pre-trial, trial and appellate levels.”

Recognized as one of the leading former federal prosecutors among his peers to transition from government to corporate work, Mr. Jackson’s practice focuses on government and internal investigations, white-collar criminal defense, complex civil litigation and regulatory compliance. He has served as lead or co-lead attorney in over 20 federal trials, including some of the most high-profile and challenging in recent memory. He has also briefed and argued numerous appeals before the US Courts of Appeals, and has been instrumental in negotiating favorable resolutions of regulatory matters involving the US Department of Justice, the New York Attorney General’s Office, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and other agencies.

“Willkie’s amazing culture and exceptional reputation for white-collar defense, investigations and litigation work is what drew me to the firm,” said Mr. Jackson. “I am thrilled to be joining such a talented and collaborative group of attorneys from across the firm’s US and international offices.”

At the US Attorney’s Office, Mr. Jackson served as a senior member of the Securities and Commodities Fraud Task Force, where he conducted a number of joint and parallel investigations with the FBI, SEC, CFTC, IRS and other agencies. Over the course of his career as a prosecutor, he led numerous sensitive investigations and prosecutions that spanned the globe. His work included securities fraud, accounting fraud, wire fraud, money laundering, public corruption, tax crimes, terrorism and international narcotics trafficking.

Mr. Jackson was awarded the US Department of Justice’s Distinguished Service Award in 2011 and the John Marshall Award in 2014 for his work on the Times Square bomber and Madoff cases, respectively. He was also named as a 2017 Rising Star by both the New York Law Journal and Law360, and recognized in The Root 100, a ranking of the 100 most influential African-Americans in the United States under the age of 45 in 2013 and 2014.

Mr. Jackson received a JD from Harvard Law School and a BA from Morehouse College. After law school, he held clerkships with the Honorable Nina Gershon in the US District Court, Eastern District of New York, and the Honorable Ann Claire Williams in the US Court of Appeals, 7th Circuit.

Willkie’s White-Collar Defense and Compliance, Investigations & Enforcement Practices represent public companies, financial institutions and their executives in all aspects of compliance, investigations and enforcement, and in particular high-stakes matters and all types of financial crimes. We are distinguished as an elite international team, joining up the experience of litigators in the US, UK and Continental Europe to provide an integrated platform of legal services covering multiple jurisdictions and geographies.
