Willkie represents Ardian in its investment in the Berlin e-Commerce company.

Willkie client Ardian announced June 15 an agreement to invest in Chal-Tec GmbH for a stake of approximately 40 percent in the Berlin-based e-commerce company. The investment will be funded through the Ardian Expansion Fund III, which closed in March 2014 with commitments of €500 million. Ardian also is providing additional financial resources for the growth of the company.

Chal-Tec GmbH is an international e-commerce company that designs and distributes high-quality products in the home and living, consumer electronics and sound and light sectors. The company operates in 18 European countries, and distributes products via the company’s own platforms as well as through leading e-commerce marketplaces.

Ardian is an independent investment company with assets of $50 billion managed or advised in Europe, North America and Asia. The company, which is majority-owned by its employees, maintains a global network working through ten offices.

The deal was handled by national partner Maximilian Schwab and partner Mario Schmidt and associates Daniel Zakrzewski, Martin Waskowski, Patrick Wacker, Stefan Bührle, Tobias Daubert, and Jochen Riechwald.
