The firm’s Washington office announces the inception of the Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP Greater DC Community Foundation.

The firm’s Washington office recently announced the inception of the Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP Greater DC Community Foundation.  Funded by donations from attorneys and staff members of the Washington office and the firm as a whole, the foundation’s mission is to support non-profit youth programs and educational initiatives serving underprivileged youth in the Greater Washington Area.  The firm’s eleven-member Advisory Committee is working closely with the leadership of the Community Foundation for the National Capital Region with respect to the management and distribution of the foundation’s funds.   Together they selected the foundation’s first grantees -- DC SCORES and Higher Achievement Program, which will each receive $40,000 to support their work in youth development and academic achievement for children from some of DC’s most impoverished neighborhoods.  In addition, Willkie attorneys and staff will volunteer with both grantee organizations and serve on their boards.  The Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP Greater DC Community Foundation was established to provide the firm’s Washington attorneys and staff an opportunity to work together to enhance the impact of individual charitable contributions and volunteer efforts in the local community.  It was launched with 100 percent participation from DC partners and counsel, a firm-wide contribution, and widespread support from associates and staff.
