Chambers and Partners announces that Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP has been nominated among a shortlist of global firms for “Law Firm of the Year” in the categories France and US Bankruptcy, and that 25 U.S. Willkie attorneys will be recognized in the 2005 edition of Chambers USA - America’s Leading Lawyers for Business.   

Chambers and Partners announced that Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP has been nominated among a shortlist of global firms for “Law Firm of the Year” in the categories France and US Bankruptcy.   This is Willkie’s third consecutive year being nominated for US Bankruptcy firm of the year, having won the prestigious award in 2004.  The firm’s Paris office has received widespread acclaim for its recent involvement is some of the most visible transactions in France, including advising Paris toll roads company Groupe SAPRR SA on its $3.7 billion IPO, energy giant Total SA as main shareholder of Sanofi-Synthelabo in connection with its  €55.3 billion tender offer for Aventis, and for leading the deal advising French buyout firm PAI Partners on its $1.7 billion acquisition of Vivarte, one of the largest French private equity transactions of 2004. 

Willkie’s Business Reorganization and Restructuring Department continues to be lauded for its involvement in some of the largest and most complex bankruptcy cases in recent years, including Adelphia Communications, National Energy & Gas Transmission Inc., and Conseco Finance Corp.   Last year, the firm received significant recognition for its role in helping Adelphia secure a landmark $8.8 billion financing package to fund its Chapter 11 exit facility.  The Chambers Global Awards will be presented at a gala ceremony in London on May 19.
